Growing up alongside my kids is one of the most beautiful, unexpected gifts life has given me. I’m supposed to be the adult, the one in charge, the one with the answers. I rarely have them, and it’s scary sometimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So my wife and I settled on something simpler. We ask what’s best for our family and go from there. It doesn’t make every decision the right one, but it’s kept us from drifting in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s life, isn’t it? You’re supposed to know what to do, but you’re figuring it out as you go while others watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So what do you do when you don’t have the answer?<\/strong> Talk it out with somebody, go for a walk, research it to death, or just sit with it until it settles. Even one word is fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And if somebody names one you haven’t tried, tell them. Half of this is finding out everybody’s making it up as they go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The porch light is on.
