Letting Go of Fear That Was Never Yours to Carry.
The people closest to me are the ones who can get under my skin the fastest. They know where and how to push my buttons, and sometimes they push them without even meaning to.
It took me a long time to learn this, but these days I mostly just smile and walk away. Mostly. But I still get upset when someone doesn’t put something back where it belongs.
What I’ve realized is that when someone gets to me quickly, they’re usually pointing at something in me that is still a work in process. It’s not always comfortable to look at, but it’s usually pretty useful.
So what’s one small thing that gets under your skin more than it should? Loud chewing, being interrupted, people running late? It doesn’t have to be deep.
If somebody names one you share, let them know. It turns out most of these are way more common than we think.
The porch light is on. Pull up a chair.
