The Thought Loop: How to Stop Overthinking the Week Ahead
I get caught up in the week ahead, running through everything I have to do before I’ve even started. It’s a frustrating loop.
What gets me out is moving. A hike, or just cleaning the house. Somewhere in the movements, it stops being a hundred things and turns into one thing at a time. That plus a good playlist usually gets me back on track.
I’ve realized that letting go of a thought you can’t control is one of the hardest things you can do. Not every story running through your mind deserves the airtime it’s getting. When you catch a loop happening, pause. Take a breath. Go do something that helps you refocus and settle in.
What’s a loop you catch yourself in? Replaying the past, worrying about the future, overthinking something small. Share it in the comments, along with anything that helps you reset.
And if somebody names a loop you know all too well, tell them. These get a lot quieter when they stop being private.
The porch light is on. Pull up a chair.
