Your Job Is Not Your Identity: How to Find Your Anchor
I have to confess. I used to think my value as a person was tied to my title, my salary, or my productivity. I’m grateful I learned the hard way that it isn’t true.
I was someone before any of those labels. I had to get back to who that was.
Your work is something you do. It’s not the whole story of who you are. Once my identity was anchored in something deeper, I took setbacks less personally. The failures became part of the process, and the sting doesn’t last as long as it used to.
So what’s your anchor? What keeps you steady when work or daily life goes sideways?
Drop a word, an emoji, or a story below:
☕ A daily routine or habit
❤️ A person or family member
🙏 A belief or mindset
🌳 Getting outside or stepping away
Even a one-word answer is great. And if somebody names an anchor you’d like to borrow, tell them. That’s usually how these get passed around.
The porch light is on. Pull up a chair.
