Small Joys: How to Find Gratitude in an Ordinary Day
Went to take out the garbage today. Pulled the bag, went to replace it, and there under the sink was a roll with a few bags left on it. Didn’t have to go looking for them. Just added it to my shopping list and went about my day, grateful we had enough to get through the week.
I was weirdly excited for that. It changed the whole attitude I carried into the rest of my day.
My life is far from perfect. It’s a work in progress and the finish line keeps moving. But I’ve learned to find peace in the mundane parts, and most days that’s enough.
So what’s a simple joy you’re grateful for?
- Finding more coffee than you thought you had
- A hot shower
- A few extra minutes of sleep
- Coming home to a hot meal
Garbage bags count. Even a one-word reply is great.
And if somebody names one you’re grateful for too, tell them. Half the fun is finding out what other people notice. The porch light is on. Pull up a chair.
