Where Real Conversations Happen

Sometimes I come across as not a people person, when actually I love being around people and talking with them when the conversation is real. That human connection is what gives life meaning for me.

I bump into people on hikes all the time. No idea who they are, and next thing I know we’re talking about our dogs, our families, our favorite trails. A few minutes of that and I keep walking, and I feel lighter than I did before.

Those conversations aren’t planned. You can’t schedule them. But you can be open to them when they happen.

So where do your conversations happen? The trail, the dog park, the line at the store, getting your haircut, the gym, the library. Where do you end up talking to people you don’t know?

And if somebody names a place you’d have never thought of, tell them. That’s usually how you find a new one.

The porch light is on. Pull up a chair.
